I grew up in Marne Michigan home of Ed Cole.he became president of General motors back in the day. He developed the small block. And the funny part is we have a racetrack called Berlin raceway that is well known and several Nascar drivers raced there. And Ed lived Wright across the street. Never had a race in his honor and every one has been racing his invention for years. Just thought it odd Berlin or hell for that matter any Nascar track Never gave the guy a shout out

The real hero and true dad is the step dad.. Use to be a #3 fan but through the years Hurd so many stories of how he was a hateful, greedy , rude person. I always enjoyed watching the independents racing. They were back in the pack or mid pack but they put on a good show. Each spot gained meant more money.

I brought my family to the NASCAR Hall of Fame Museum about a year ago. It was really amazing. Anything like this is great. I'm glad some of these good Ole boys had the brains to understand how important it was to save a good portion of the work that they accomplished back then so the next generation could enjoy and learn from it all. Car racing is a bit different than other sports because it's not just the people, it's the cars, too. You can take pictures of a great sports team, but that's all it is. But the cars are different. You can save them as is post race, or restore to new. Either way, the car is parked for the next generation to go see, and touch, and learn from. Just my opinion, but I'm obviously biased....

The Olympic Committee is powerful and they know it. Just try to sell something, anything with the 5 interlocking circles logo, even a poor replica, and watch how fast you will get a "cease and desist" letter. They get whatever they want!

Man this takes me back to so many places in time. We'd go to Darlington every year it'd be my uncle(Buckwheat)family and mine. We stayed at the track in my uncles camper or the hotel when my mom and aunt came along. We were never well off growing up but my uncle always helped his little brother my dad. He had his own body shop in Cumberland Md so he paid for most the trip. He painted my first car a 69 Mach1. It's funny how I remember the names that they knew like Kibby. He a single car shop up the road. It's a flower shop or was now. There's Smokey Joe we called him Smoke. He did interiors always had something going or moving. Never seen him without a beer and a cigar. My uncle knew alot of people and used to race on dirt tracks on the east coast in the late 60's. He sold all the race cars he had mainly Chevy. Dad taught me Fords so I guess I'm a Ford guy. My dad has passed but my uncle is still in his shop on his land just about owns a quarter of the houses on his road.
